This applet is a visualization tool that utilizes the similarity in operative mechanisms between the computational morphology of Lindemayer systems (L-systems) and the english language. The L-system is a shape grammar, meaning that it uses a linguistic technique with a set of gramatical rules to describe a morphology - in this cass as branching and fractal morphology. Since the L-system is based in the idea of grammar, it provides a possible mechanism for visualizing the grammatical and narrative structure of the english language - or conversely, turn the english language into a drawing or shape generation system. This applet uses the english language, and an interpretation of the rules of grammar, as the input for a L-system branching structure. The representation can be rendered in two styles, either 'plant-like' (complete with flowers and leaves) or as 'grayscale' (with simple black lines). The applet also provides the option for turning on or off the text display with is printed on top of the shape. As the 'plant' grows, if it reaches the edge of the Canvas it will bend around and grow back towards the center. l[ingusitic] system v2.0b This software is provided by nthdimensional.com, for more nthdimensional software and experiments visit: nthdimensional.com/ and nthd.org
